All these blessings will come down on you and spread out beyond you because you have responded to the voice of God, your God. Deuteronomy 28:2 MSG
While standing
in line at the drug store ready to pay for my purchase (two greeting cards), the cashier
announced the price: “nine dollars and fifteen cents.”
“Yikes,”
I said before I could stop myself. These were small cards and certainly nothing
fancy. I hadn’t even looked at the price. “I didn’t realize they would be so
much,” I told the cashier.
“That’s
why I always buy mine at the dollar store,” she said. “They’re way too
expensive in here.”
Wow …
never thought about the dollar store.
Grateful
for her honesty—and hoping her boss didn’t hear her comment—I thanked her and
headed to the nearest dollar store where my purchase ended up at two dollars
and ten cents. What a difference.
Sometimes,
it’s those little blessings that mean the most. A close parking spot on a rainy
day. An unexpected refund. Finding that item you thought the store was out of tucked back behind something else. A phone call from an old friend. Discovering
five dollars in your pocket. A beautiful rainbow on a stormy day.
God’s
blessings are everywhere. All we have to do is look for them. Don’t just look
for the big ones; look for the little blessings along the way. You’re sure to find
them.
