Christmas is a magical time filled with lights, music, perfectly (and not-so-perfectly) shaped trees, and beautiful decorations of all varieties. There's just nothing like taking each unique ornament out of its wrapping every year and experiencing the memories of Christmases past. I still have ragged, handmade paper ornaments that my children made many, many years ago. My tree goes up at Thanksgiving and stays up until well after the New Year.
Stockings for the grandchildren are hung carefully on the mantle. Our numbers have grown, and the mantle no longer holds enough stockings for each member of the family. Our five silly, beautiful granddaughters have as much fun exploring the tiny treasures inside as they do ripping the paper off of their gifts underneath the tree. A cozy fire warms our hearts and brings peace and comfort from the busyness of life. There is nothing that compares with the spirit of the season.
But Christmas is so much more than all the earthly things we enjoy. At this special time of year, may we all remember the true reason for the season ... Jesus Christ, born in a lowly manger, now King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He is what Christmas is all about.
This year, worship Him with a heart full of praise and thanksgiving as you spend time with friends and family.
Merry Christmas from my home to yours.
