“My thoughts are
nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord,
“and my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.”
Isaiah 55:8 NLT
It was one of those situations where I had prayed and prayed …
and prayed. I considered every possible solution, but when God gave me the
answer, I thought, You’ve got to be kidding. It seemed absurd, at least
in my mind.
One writer contends that until we come to grips with the
truth that God doesn’t think like we do, we will question everything—and even
doubt His love.
God tells us His thoughts are not like ours, and there’s no way
we can even begin to imagine or understand His ways.
What human mind would devise a plan to kill a dangerous giant
with a slingshot and stone? Or feed thousands of people with a little boy’s
lunch? Or bring down the massive walls of a city with only a shout?
In the old TV show, Father Knows Best, we saw in every
episode that good old Dad always had the answer. Every time. To every problem.
For us as believers, our heavenly Father truly knows best. He
has the answer for every question and the solution to every problem.
Be sure to think things through, but don’t forget to check
with your Father first. His thoughts and ways are perfect.
