So don’t worry
about tomorrow,
for tomorrow
will bring its own worries.
Today’s
trouble is enough for today.
Matthew 6:34 NLT
Funny thing about tomorrow … we can either love it
(as the song says) or dread it with every fiber of our being. It’s all in our
perspective and expectations. The problem is no matter which way we view it,
when we focus only on tomorrow, we completely miss out on today.
We hear it all the time: live one day at a time.
Good advice, because tomorrow is not promised to us. The only reality we have is
now, and it’s up to us what we do with it.
We can learn much from the Israelites. They were
not allowed to store their food for days or weeks at a time. God gave them
manna every day—the exact amount they would need. When they tried to put some
aside for a “rainy day,” they found out quickly that was not God’s plan.
The Bible says God’s mercies are fresh and new
every morning, brimming with possibilities and filled with everything we need
to make it through the day. And great is His faithfulness. What He has promised, that will He do.
If you find yourself thinking too much about
tomorrow, shift your focus and ask God to help you make the most of today.
